Casa Mia at Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre celebrates its 23rd Year Anniversary this month and its impeccable success over the past 2 decades as being one of the finest Italian restaurants in Dubai.


 With Chef Maurizio Lazzarin at the helm of the kitchen since it’s opening in 1993, Casa Mia has set an unwavering benchmark for Italian food lovers; offering wholesome, home-cooked style food gastronomy and a warm inviting ambience. Teaming up with Restaurant Manager Francisco Javier Martin Romo, Casa Mia sets off the celebration by introducing an enlightening series of wine pairing masterclasses featuring Italian and international grapes paired with cheese, chocolates and snacks.


All through the month of November, Casa Mia offers an interactive culinary experience on select Tuesdays of the month for the Wine & Cheeses, Think Pink - Rosé and Chocolate & Wine Nights.


Wine & Cheese Night consists of a Wine & Cheese Masterclass, Wine & Cheese La Cantina Open Day and a private tasting. The hour-long masterclass open to five participants or more features a discussion and pairing of five international and Italian grape varieties with five Italian cheeses - Franciacorta/Parmigiano Reggiano, Chardonnay/Burrata, Rosé/Taleggio, Chianti Classico/Pecorino Toscano and Passito/Gorgonzola. The course consists of the basics of wine tasting and food pairing, explanations of the wine regions, grapes and terroir and focuses on the individual cheeses - Parmigiano myths, Burrata-making, the history of Taleggio, the so-called pasta cheese Pecorino Toscano and a talk on blue vein cheese, “erborinati”, with an emphasis on Gorgonzola.


Wine & Cheese La Cantina Open Day is an opportunity for restaurant guests to taste featured wine and cheese based on a tapas-style, a la carte menu. Whereas the private tasting is a personalized version of the Wine & Cheese Masterclass, available for a minimum of two guests at a time.


Think Pink - Rosé Night presents a charming opportunity for guests to experience varieties of rosé and delicious snacks via the Pink Tasting Masterclass or Wine & Food a La Carte, a notable rosé wine list and a la carte menu available on the Casa Mia Terrace. The masterclass pairs pink snacks with Sparkling, Provence, Sangiovese, CS and Cotes du Rhone rosé wine varieties featuring individual flavor profiles ranging from light and fruity to savory and rich. Guests dressed or accessorized in pink receive discounts for the evening.


Chocolate & Wine is an original program including the Chocolate & Wine Masterclass, Chocolate & Wine La Cantina Open Day and a private tasting. The hour-long masterclass encompasses a discussion and expert pairing of five chocolates with five international wines - Oaked Chardonnay/Sesamo, Pinot Noir/Cherry, Malbec/Sea Salted Caramel, Syrah/Chili and Orange Muscat/Orange Zest. Like the Wine & Cheese Masterclass, the course begins with the basics of wine tasting followed by the history of chocolate, food and wine matching and a series of thoughtful wine discussions: “The Holy Grail of Red Wines”, “High Altitude Wines”, “The Hermitage Hill Legend” and “The Liquid Gold: Sweet Wines”.


Restaurant Manager Javier Martin Romo hosts the Chocolate & Wine series, recommending the events “for team building, gifts for family and friends and wine lovers and foodies alike”. Romo is an expert in the field with a background including SWS at Vinopolis London and a WSET Advance Level Award in Wine and Spirits.


The grand celebration is scheduled to place on November 18th, 2016 from 7:30pm and the specially curated set menu dinner with wine pairing is priced at AED 499 per person (AED 900 per couple). Diners can enjoy live Jazz music, photo opportunities at the photo booth and experience a treasure of storytelling by Casa Mia’s Italian staff as they serve you the finest Italian grapes and meal. The evening culminates in the celebratory cutting of the cake by Chef Maurizio and Francisco at 11:30pm.
