The Kite Festival which was held on Friday 19 February, 2016 on the beach adjacent to the Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara, commenced at 11.00 am and was focused on families making their own kites and then flying them from the beaches of the island with a complimentary sausage sizzle thanks to MH Enterprises and Spinneys Abu Dhabi, music, beach games and fun for all ages took place until 5.00pm.
The kite flying contest commenced at 12 noon and winners were awarded in three different categories; Youngest Kite Runner: 5 year old Claudia won a one night stay for her family at Anantara Al Sahel Villa Resort with her fairy inspired kite. The most Creative Kite award went to Artchari On-Kam for his ingenious colourful ship design which won him a one night stay at Anantara Al Yamm Villa Resort. Final award for the Largest Kite was a tie-up between two participants, the Musser and Pols family each won a nights stay at Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara.
“The Kite Festival was a big success and will definitely return next year” said Christian Gerart, Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island’s General Manager.
